The Minnesota Wild, who’ve been battling in the thick of the Central Division all season, clinched a playoff spot following their overtime win against the Anaheim Ducks. With the berth secured, Minnesota becomes the eighth Western Conference team to punch their ticket to the postseason.
The Wild are now set to face the Colorado Avalanche in the First Round—a rematch of past postseason clashes (2003 CQF, 2008 CQF, 2014 R1, and 2022 R1). Minnesota holds a 2-2 record in four previous series against Colorado, with dramatic wins in both 2003 and 2014 that each went to Game 7 overtime.
In each of those series victories, the Wild advanced past at least one more round, making their 2003 and 2014 wins part of the deepest runs in franchise history. Will this year’s squad write the next chapter?
