Gaza’s seaport becomes makeshift hell for displaced fleeing Israeli bombs

Displaced Palestinians in Gaza are sheltering in makeshift tents at the overcrowded Gaza seaport, fleeing relentless Israeli bombardment despite so-called “safe zone” warnings. With no running water, sanitation, or safe drinking sources, families describe living in “landfill-like” conditions, dumping waste into the contaminated sea and contracting skin diseases. Gaza’s seaport, once a connection to the world, now symbolises Gaza’s isolation, as survivors endure starvation and indiscriminate attacks. Residents recount being ordered by Israeli forces to flee west, then south, only for both areas to be bombed. Makeshift camps lack basic survival necessities, leaving thousands exposed to the elements and ongoing violence. One displaced person lamented, “This is not a place for humans,” comparing the dire conditions to uninhabitable ruins. The report concludes with Gaza’s seaport standing as a grim testament to collapsed dignity and fading hope under siege.
