Mamdani tells Trump: ‘Turn the volume up’

The Democratic candidate has begun his victory speech by thanking his supporters. “The future is in our hands. My friends, we have toppled a political dynasty,” he said. The politician went on to wish his main rival, Andrew Cuomo, “the best in private life”. “But let tonight be the last time I utter his name, as we turn the page on a politics that abandoned the many, and answers only to the few,” he said. Mamdani also hailed what he called a mandate for change as he declared victory. “Tonight, you have delivered a mandate for change, a mandate for a new kind of politics, a mandate for a city that we can afford,” he said. “On January 1, I will be sworn in as mayor of New York City,” he added. The Democrat has spoken directly to Trump, a New Yorker, saying it is the city that gave rise to him that will show the country how to defeat him. “Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up!,” Mamdani said. He also told the Republican, “To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.”
