Panama’s government has held a ceremony to mark the 25th anniversary of gaining control of one of the world’s most important waterways.
The US relinquished control of the Panama Canal on December 31st, 1999. But US President-elect Donald Trump is now threatening to take it back. In a speech during the anniversary, Panama’s President declared the canal will remain under Panama’s control forever.
